Parents Dish About Tooth Fairy in New York Times

Want to hear what other parents think about all this Tooth Fairy biz?

Then peruse this posting from the The New York Times online magazine. The March 20, 2009, posting is titled "Waiting for the Tooth Fairy."

"The morning after I put a lost tooth under my pillow as a child, I would find there two dollars and a page-long typewritten note from the tooth fairy telling me about her adventures with her daughters Fluoride, Flossie, and Filling, and always instructing me to be nice to my “cute little Daddy!” The letters were wonderful, and I treasure them."

Ahhhhhh! Sweet!

(It's not too late to add your own comments!)

These Daddy Postings re the Tooth Fairy are Fabo!

I love stumbling upon funny daddy blogs, in which said dads lament the snags they run into playing tooth fairy. This blog, Thingamababy, features not one, not two, but THREE funny postings re the Tooth Fairy!

Will the REAL Tooth Fairy Please Show Up?? ;-)

Wow! There are a lot of ladies out there (decked out in long dresses and huge wings, no less) claiming to be "the" Tooth Fairy!

I guess we're all lucky that no men have yet decided to take on the challenge! Oh, wait, isn't He-Who-Used-To-Be-Known-As-The-Rock (Dwayne Johnson) about to do so on the Silver Screen??!!

Just so you know, the REAL tooth fairy says she's "okay" with these "impostors," as they're all spreading the good news: that kids need to brush and floss.  ;-)

Here are photos and links to just three of these  "tooth fairies."  Brush on, ladies!

Toothy Kid Photo Contest!!!

That's right! We're having a contest!!!!

One of the things I love most about this whole tooth fairy business is looking at photos of kids who have just lost a tooth. Why? Because every kid's expression is different! Some are ecstatic, because they're super excited that the Tooth Fairy is on her way. But other kids (like Ethan, who is pictured on the right sidebar), are still a bit overwhelmed over the whole tooth loss experience, when their mom or dad snap their photo.

I want to fill this blog with more of these fun photos, which is why I've come up with the Toothy Kid Photo Contest!!!

Details:
*Winners: The Tooth Fairy and I will pick three winning photos -- for the three kids wearing the the funniest, happiest, and grumpiest expressions when mom or dad said, "CHEESE!"

*Prizes: The child that the Tooth Fairy and I deem to be the most endearing is going to get an autographed copy of my book You Think It's Easy Being the Tooth Fairy?. The other two chosen children will receive baseball caps emblazoned with my book cover. As well, all three children will receive a personalized note from the Tooth Fairy. ("That," she just smirked, "is the best part!" HA!)

So, here are the rules:

1) Email me your photo/photos at Sheri(at)Rehwoldt.com by April 15, 2009. Send small files, please. Or you may send me an email directing me to your blog or website link, if the photo is displayed there.

2) Be sure to provide the name and age of the child pictured. Also include a few sentences on his or her tooth-losing experience.

3) By sending me your photo, you give me the right to post your child's photo here on my blog. No personal identifying information will be posted with the photo, other than your child's name.

I can't wait to see the faces and announce the winners!!

So don't forget the deadline: April 15, 2009!!
